musings… The Huskies have all 5 starters Averaging double figures . Always very Impressive !  Team overall is Averaging 91.5 ppg

Mosqueda – Lewis  =  18 ppg

Breanna Stewart =  16.7 ppg

Kia Nurse  =  13.7  ppg

Morgan Tuck  =  12.5 ppg

Moriah Jefferson  =  11.2 ppg

musings… is shooting SIXTY TWO % from behind the Arc ( 39 attempts )

( and oh by the way…she is Tied with Jefferson for team lead in Steals  – 13  )

musings… Breanna Stewart struggled a bit (for her ) in last 3 games, but is still shooting 56% from field & 46% from Three (22 attempts)

musings..Freshman “Guard” in 6 games is shooting SIXTY % from field, 14 ppg, 42% from Three, Averaging 5 boards & has a 3-1 Asst/TO .

Along with being a serious factor on Defensive end !!

Saturday’s game vs Notre Dame will certainly be an intriguing “test” for Nurse. There is a strong likelihood she will be given the assignment of defending All- American Jewell Lloyd.

musings..6 games Versatile Morgan Tuck is 3-14 from Three ( 21% ).She is 18-22 from FT line (82%).

For me, although a relatively small sample, along with that fact that she is basically coming off a year off (early season rust ), those #’s do warrant consideration for… Less 3’s , More Drives through December games.  ( quality competition ) .  She is sneaky quick off the drive, and 18-22 from FT line is Legit !

musings..IMO there aren’t many (if any) Frontcourts that can defend “Stewie” & Tuck out on the perimeter / off the dribble.

fyi..Both = 18 Assts/ 12 TO’s through 6 games. (Terrific ratio for Forwards )

– With “Stewie” & Tuck (starting Frontcourt) AND a terrific “breakdown” backcourt Jefferson & Nurse AND the Best   in the country with Kaleena Mosqueda – Lewis spotting up ….with those 5 on the floor, that crew = a major problem for opposing teams to defend ( Drives ) in a Maximum spacing / Spread the floor dynamic.

Looking ahead to Notre Dame matchup…. In my view, Breanna Stewart (likely defended by Freshman Brianna Turner ) , Morgan Tuck (likely defended by Taya Reimer ) have the advantage in taking their defender off the dribble from the Perimeter.   I also think that ND Wing Michaela Mabrey could struggle dealing with the much stronger KML on drives & potential Post Ups in the lane.

Moriah Jefferson is shooting 41% from Three so far . I’m confident Geno would sign for that type of % for the season.

Kiah Stokes is averaging 7.5 Rebounds & 3.5 Blocks per game in just 20 minutes per game.  She is also 9-10 from the FT line.

Saniya Chong  has appeared erratic with her shooting from behind the Arc (handful of “way off” misses ) , but is still shooting a solid 35 %  (10-29) from that distance and I recall a handful of “In & Outs” among those misses. She also has an 11 / 5  Assist – Turnover ratio.

Freshman Forward Gabby Williams has definitely surged…and provided a nice boost off the bench in UConn’s last 4 games

10 points & 4 Rebounds in 13 minutes vs Creighton   – November 23rd

 4 points &  6 Rebounds in 18 minutes vs Charleston  – November 28th

 7 points & 6 Rebounds in 17 minutes  vs Vanderbilt  –  November 29th

11 points & 5 Rebounds in 20 minutes  vs Wisconsin – Green Bay  – November 30th
