On Friday, Holly Warlick was in the stands to scout Schubert. Assistant coach Dean Lockwood, the post coach for Tennessee, already had made the 115-mile trek to Elizabethton High School. When the head coach gets to the gym, that is an indicator of high interest.

Schubert, who already had been recruited by some mid-major schools, got on the radar of Division I schools, including Tennessee, Utah, Virginia Tech, Rice, and Texas A&M.

6’4′ EMILYSCHUBERT from Elizabethton, TN  ( Elizabethton H.S. ) is Senior (class of 2016 ) and currently Unsigned / UNcommitted.

She is 4.0 Student , she is also a Track athlete and she is an incredibly Sincere young lady.

In my opinion as a former Division 1 Post coach and Player Development Coordinator , if there is any D1 program still in the market for a Post player / Center from the 2016 class, they MUST take a hard look at Emily.

The highlight video below will offer up samples of ability that should have coaching staff Intrigued and Excited about the potential Emily offers both Defensively and Offensively … especially in the hands of Staff that takes pride in developing Post players.

My belief is Emily has all the foundation to be at minimal at rotation Post player at the High Major / BCS level.

In the latest Video (ABOVE) from this season :

Emily shows at SIX FOUR :

High post shooting capacity, the ability to change ends swiftly and agility to change directions comfortably.

She gets out in Transition (beating opposing Centers ) and can Finish smoothly with either hand.   She displays the ability to “shape up” in the Post with a Wide , Low base. She has quality hands on catches and is a comfortable, capable Passer out of the Low & High Post.

Emily showcases solid strength to battle and hold position on Defense, then transfers to Fundamental & Discipline 1 vs 1 low post contests .

She does not yet have an array of moves, footwork with her Low post package, But shows the agile feet and body control to work off Defenders 1 vs 1 .  (Including with “counter” moves ).  Emily has a Very Good FT shooting stroke. The capability, potential to Drive from High post is there as well.

I love in this video ( 5:40 mark ) her capacity  to smoothly open up and roll on Screen – Roll action and then bounce right back right back out to Perimeter to set another ball screen. This young lady comfortably covers ground at her distinguishable Size. She also displays quick catch & finish off glass capacity.

At the end of video… her agile feet display the capacity, upside to Defend on the perimeter. And then once again her Track background is evident with her legit mobility to change ends after a turnover for the conversion layup. (Left hand ! )

EMILY is a late bloomer as a basketball prospect… but that bloom is underway, and there is clearly  A LOT to work with (physically and intanbilbles ) to become at minimal a “Winning” rotation Post player for High Major , Mid Major D1 programs.
